We moved from Atlanta to Las Vegas in February 2020. We chose Purple Heart Movers as it came up in a search as one of the top moving companies and its name tugged on our heart strings for soldiers who have been awarded the purple heart. This was our 3rd cross country move in a 16 year time span and by far it was the worst moving experience we have ever had. Our prior long distance moves with United Van Lines (2004) and Blue Ribbon Movers (2017) were near flawless. So why are we dissatisfied? Nearly every piece of furniture was damaged. The vast majority of boxes were delivered crushed, extremely dirty, and starting to break open. Our mattresses and box springs were delivered filthy and with puncture marks. Plastic totes were delivered with crushed and broken corners and lids. Some pieces of furniture were delivered with missing legs and punctured (see photo). A hope chest was literally destroyed (see photo). A 40-pound bag of cat litter was placed into a box that contained glassware-actually on top of the glassware. Of course the glassware broke, and the bag of cat litter broke open as well, spilling everywhere. (That box labelled "glassware" had been reopened to pack the cat litter into it, when the movers realized they had to include the cat litter in the move). Floor lamps were rendered useless with broken and missing parts. The parts to the bed rails for the king bed were missing, so we couldn't sleep in the bed unless we put the mattress on the floor. But would you really want to sleep on a mattress that was delivered in such a filthy state? We spent $750 in having the mattresses and box springs professionally cleaned. Many items were never delivered. Just vanished. We filed a claim with their insurance company. It turns out we got 60 cents per pound for damaged items, which amounted to $600. We were not allowed to put in a claim for the missing items as we signed off on our moving documents that all items were delivered. We can not recommend this moving company at all. Stay away.

They will low-ball your estimate to get you to sign up and then jack up the price on moving day. They will hold you, your family and your possessions hostage. They will tell you that you have 3 options; pay them the new amount, only ship up to the quote and leave everything else behind or cancel the move on the spot. Their QA team will stop answering your phone calls and their customer service will treat you like dirt. They will farm the move out to another company like national as well. When you move with Purple Heart, you are really moving with another company. They made a stressful day so much worse for me and my family. Always choose a company that charges based on weight and not volume. I should have listened to blogs that warned of this practice. --Update-- It has been 26 days since our departure and we still have not received our belongings and we have not eta from our moving company. --Update-- Our belongings were finally returned to us on the 28th. Exactly one full month from our departure. The driver said he would be arriving between 3pm and 5pm. He showed called at 5pm to say he couldn't make it, unless we wanted him to start at 9pm. We said yes. He showed up alone and methodically moved everything in over the course of 6 hours. He was the nicest person and best part about this experience, but I wish the company would have used a portion of the $4200 they wrung out of us to have a second mover to speed things up so we didn't have to be up until 3am. I am uploading some photos that are representative of the care that went into the moving, storage for a month and delivery of most of our possessions. It seemed like the boxes marked "Fragile" got the worst of it. We have broken dishes and picture frames. The worst of this was our bed, which we purchased a few months ago, had been folded and taped in half like a taco for a month and was apparently dragged rather than carried. The plastic bed cover and plastic wrapping around the bed (which they charged us $300 for) was torn and falling off. There were deep black stains all over the bed and the box spring was broken. I don't understand the purpose of this company other than to fleece people out of money. They failed at moving, packing, storage, delivery, customer service and basic kindness. But they never backed down on the price or the contract, so they got what they wanted. Our money.

The worst experience ever. Same case of almost all the bad reviews: It arrived one month later, subcontracting company, boxes (they were new) and items damaged ( super damaged), lost items ( 6-7) included furniture... When they where unloaded my items and boxes they even the worst customer service: they tell you they pay 60cents or something per lb. For the damage or lost items, and you'll receive an email with all the information about what you have to do to process the claim. It never arrive and then they doesn't answer the phone again... It's a joke. They aren't a serious company ( just to say it in a polite way).

If you use this company and have a complaint, don't bother they won't listen. You have been warned so if you use them, it's your mistake. We are very upset and disappointed with Purple Heart Moving Company, the company that moved our household items from Tucson Arizona to our new home in La Crosse Wisconsin. We were told by Zack, their agent, that there was nothing to be worried about our move, he even said “you can go to the movies and when you get home, everything would be packed and on the truck”. Zack also said if our boxes were used, they would adjust the fees by giving us credit for our boxes they used, no adjustments. We stayed and everything seemed to go okay without any major problems as the movers worked. The problems started when everything was completed. The price was almost doubled, estimate said $11,916.56 but the boss of the movers wanted an additional $5,592.12, making this move cost $17,508.68. We had no choice but to pay them nor anyway to contest these additional fees. The contract stated the delivery was to be made on or about June 28, 2019 to our house, which we closed escrow on that day. It was only then we found out our items had been stored at a warehouse in Rochester Minnesota, as the driver said they were picking up our items there to deliver them. There were items damaged that the driver pointed out to us (desk) that was totally demolished, our king size bed mattress torn and misshaped, and numerous boxes severely damaged. These were items we could see without unpacking anything. There were items listed on the inventory worksheets that were not what they were supposed to be, i.e. two tables listed as a box. The driver and his helper called the same number three separate times, and a couple of other times. I questioned this and it was shrugged off. I have tried to include pictures of the boxes our items were in., as you can see they had to have been handled very poorly, as there were too many damaged boxes, about one half the total. We feel that when the boxes and furniture was handled, the handlers must have tried to damage them, and some were taken or misplaced so they are lost to us forever.

DISASTER.. got delayed for a month, nobody answers the phone, a lot of the boxes were wet and books damaged. Furniture got damaged, careless and unprofessional. When trying to contact about the damages... you guessed it — nobody answered. But the the high fee was already charged of course .
