I had the BEST experience with Shield movers!!! Moving over 1,000 miles out of state had me nervous because I have lost items previously with other moving companies and I've moved many times and have worked with several different van lines. From the heaviest furniture to the most delicate art, Shield movers were so very careful. The gentleman were professional, on time and kept me updated during the entire process. I am completely amazed and happy to recommend them because every single item has been safely delivered to my new home! I will definitely be using them for my future moves!!!

What a horrible horrible experience. Hired a major moving company and they subbed the work out to this company. Instead of the major moving company showing up, two men arrived in a rented truck and one of the men couldn’t speak a word of English. They damaged MANY of my furniture items, including teak dining room chairs, a $4000 refrigerator, a family antique, and many other items.

This was the WORST moving company I have ever worked with. American Van Lines contracted with them for my move. In addition to being utterly unprepared and frankly incompetent, they were actively hostile towards me. First, they were 3 days late and gave me no update. I had to call the contractor multiple times over the three days. I had to spend hundreds on boarding my dogs because I was told they were a few hours away multiple times. I was assured they would be there soon. When they did arrive, they were utterly unprepared. They only brought 2 men for a 3-bedroom on a third floor walk up, and they were not dressed appropriately for doing lifting nor were they able to do so. They didn't even bring water, and it was one of the hottest days of the summer. It took the two people over 6 hrs to move my things in, and during that time, I witnessed them badly damage my hardwood floor, put dents and scuffs in the walls, and handle my items poorly. At one point, one of the movers was carrying a box clearly marked fragile on multiple sides by swinging it by the handle with one hand. They also dropped my grandmother's antique commode and damaged the intricate detailing by trying to carry it on top of another box. They also did not arrange our furniture and when they did agree to reassemble my furniture, they did not reassemble my furniture well. I had to redo the reassembly of multiple pieces. Finally, they actively argued with me about what was in my contract (furniture assembly) and were overly rude and hostile. NEVER work with these people. They deserve negative stars.

I want to thank Mario and Junior for doing our move in April from Knoxville to Dayton.
They both did an excellent job moving our items with care and packing items on site that needed extra packing to prevent damage and breaking.
These guys were great from start to finish.
Let me tell you. If there is a way to hire them or this company directly for our next move I’m going to try and find a way.
We went with a large company with this move who co tracked this company for our move.
Mario and Junior were the best part about this whole process with the large company. And, they are not even affiliated with them!
Please pass on my appreciations and folks if you can hire this company directly… do not hesitate to do it!!!!!

I cut and pasted this review from my review of Adams Van Lines who contracted with Shield Moving and Storage. Jonathan was horrible. Read below:
I wish I would have gone with more established movers like Allied and JK Moving. Hindsight is 20/20 right? First Adams Van Lines contracts out with movers and is not itself a "moving company." The vetting of these movers is DEFINITELY suspect. The movers from Maryland were Shield Storage and Moving. On the day of moving, two guys in a U-Haul showed up which was immediately suspect. Adams told me that 4-5 movers would show up so the move took the whole day. When they came into my home, they immediately doubled the price of the move which was shocking. I was stuck however as I had to be out the next day. Moving took all day with just two people. I was exhausted but left.
On Easter Sunday, they texted at 8am saying they were going to show up that day at 7pm. Not only was I out of town, but they only wanted to be paid in cash or money order. I had expected them that Tuesday (the text the week before from Adams stated this as the estimated arrival) so I did not have the cash or a money order. Jonathan from Shield Moving and Storage gave me a very, very hard time saying I was warned and should have had the funds. I told them I was told I would have a day warning and it was Easter Sunday and everything was closed. I was then charged $250 extra for the overnight delay.
The morning of Monday, they arrived at 9am, an hour earlier then agreed and gave me a very, very hard time. They came in a different van, with two other households stuff. I had no local bank so I had to scramble to get the correct payment. They would not accept a wire, personal check, credit cards, Zelle didn't work, doesn't do Venmo, etc. They threatened to take my stuff, charge me for storage, and keep my stuff for three weeks. Jonathan was very unprofessional, unwilling to work with me, and very, unreasonable. I feel like I was set up a little with the early arrival to try and get even more money from me. Winn Dixie saved the day with money orders, thankfully.
The movers themselves, two gentlemen, were super nice and helpful and Tania, the person who handled the payment (she ultimately negated the extra $250 charged) was a lifesaver in helping me the morning of -- are the reason for two stars. However, they brought in other household stuff at times and I had to correct. After unboxing everything, I have realized a bin full of purses, mostly Coach and Tory Burch, is missing. I am very suspect of this (draw your own conclusions) based on my horrendous experience with Jonathan. However, I have no doubt he will blame me and I just want to be done with this whole experience and will not file a claim.
Back to I should have gone with Allied. Ultimately, after doubling my cost to move for the amount charged for two guys and a U-Haul, losing valuable items, being harassed and bullied on Easter Sunday/Moving day, unreasonable behavior -- it was the same price as Allied.
Adams will say they are not the cause of this as they only contract out and pass the buck. But shouldn't they vet their movers better? Had I know they would have used Shield Storage and Moving, and researched them and been aware of the horrendous reviews they have, I would NEVER have used Adams. The reviews very much mirror my review in unprofessional behavior and price gauging.
I, a single female, was totally taken advantage of and am very, very upset over this.
