Still disturbed almost two months later. This is the e-mail I sent inquiring after our move to see if our experience is typical-- and never heard back! There was also supposed to be nominal compensation for our damages and never heard back. We've been through 10 moves with several companies, including cross-country, and this is the first bad experience. Yes, damages happen, but the disturbing part about this is that these were all avoidable. This move out of a typical 2400 sq ft 3 story house into storage and smaller apartment was, I'm sorry to say, an overall appalling representation of Bridgetown. For these reasons I'm still struggling with how the day shaped up: Starting with the beginning, they came with only one truck (two were promised by phone and email). I think things would have gone better if they had two like originally discussed. Before I go into the rest of this I want to mention the team's likability, polite demeanor and speed. Despite one guy being late and visibly ill and coughing, he had a lot of hustle. First there was some damaged plaster (from hitting a couch on the ceiling) that we went back to patch. The hand trucks were damaging to the engineered hardwood floor when they scrape. Gouges (not superficial scratches) were left from using a hand truck indoors to stack items. They will need to be filled in but the only thing I could do was use a wood staining pen and hope the new homeowners aren't too upset. Another note about hand trucks is the use of them to pile 6 boxes high including boxes marked "fragile" on every side with big red stickers and then letting the pile slam down on each step down and up stairs. I am having trouble imagining how that would be their standard procedure? As I dig through storage I am unpacking boxes with shattered items despite reams of U-haul packing paper and it is upsetting. Again, I have packed a household of fragile items which all survived a cross country move so what is going on here? Upon leaving our house it was apparent there was not enough room in the one truck for all of our items. Later that night and the next day we had to come back ourselves and move more boxes, lamps and mirrors and large art (and also to repair damage). At some point there was a misunderstanding that only things with green labels would go to the new apartment, and other boxes and items labeled "apartment" went to storage so we are still trying to access those items. When it was realized that things were going to storage that shouldn't, Justin asked them to create an aisle down the middle so we may find things but the aisle was not created. So now our storage is many piles high, a leather ottoman (that should be in the apartment) on its side with a massive stack of boxes on top (now removed but impressions will be forever) and a box labeled fragile that was crushed between an aluminum beam and a heavy bin. With the treatment of these items it's hard not to take it personally. One of the most upsetting was the Restoration Hardware velvet couch. Yeah, of course we signed a waiver but at that time I could not imagine the negligent mishandling of items. I do hate to put it that way but to scrape a velvet couch on concrete stairs so hard that the underlying metal is revealed doesn't strike me as normal moving conditions or procedure. If the couch was too large or too heavy I would have preferred someone to just say that before trying to wrestle it into an impossible space. And then when they got it to the apartment they tried to wrestle it through the door and damaged the door jam! I am overall just confused about the normal process of the Bridgetown team. I'll admit to having high hopes because they were recommended by a trusted friend. So partly I'm wondering if this experience was a variant or if this is standard expectations from Bridgetown? This experience doesn't seem consistent with the reviews that we read prior to booking.

I had such an amazing experience with Bridgetown Movers on June 24th. Luis and Abraham were amazing. I hadn’t gotten as far as I planned with packing and organizing and was quite stressed upon their arrival. They were so chill and worked incredibly hard and quickly helping me finish, loading up, and unloading in the new place. They really made the move easy and quick. I’m so grateful for them both and would highly recommend them to anyone that is in search of movers! Worth the money!
