I received a letter from Dr Romano's office telling me it was time for a colonoscopy. I made an appointment for a consultation, arrived, filled out paperwork, paid my $35 co-pay, and was told I didn't need the procedure until next year. Not only didn't they refund my co-pay for an unnecessary visit, they billed me for another $40! If I can be told my last procedure was clean enough to not warrant a visit yet, I should not have received the letter. I certainly should not have been billed for it. Money grab. I'd give zero stars if it was a choice.

My complaint isn't about Dr. Romano. He is professional, with a good sense of humor, which makes having this ghastly procedure a bit less horrendous. My complaint is about the wait time to get the procedure done. I was told to arrive a half hour early for my 11 a.m. appointment, which I did. I wasn't called in to the changing/vitals room until after noon. Consider that my appointment was on a Monday. I had to do the cleanse on Sunday, so the last time I'd eaten anything was midnight Saturday. By noon on Monday, I was past being hungry They use propofol for the procedure, so one minute I was saying hello to the doctor and the next I was awake in recovery. That was the easy part. I was home by 2 with no issues. I realize that things happen and schedules get backed up. That's to be expected, but a 90 minute wait is ridiculous. Fortunately, I won't have to go through this again for at least seven years - maybe 10.

I saw Dr. John Romano at the Brittonfield location in East Syracuse. The receptionist was professional and pleasant. Bella, who took my history and vitals was professional, quick, and efficient. Dr. Romano was professional and courteous. He listened intently to my concerns and reviewed records I brought with me. He proposed a plan of action starting with diagnostic tests and then a follow up appointment with him to go over resuIts. I look forward to to my relationship with this office and based on my first encounter I highly recommend them. Thanks Doc! *May I encourage patients who had a positive experience to take the time to say so? There's enough negativity in this world. For those who complain about wait times or feel rushed in their visit....please understand they have to see a certain number of people each day and try hard to be efficient. Everywhere you go is dealing with understaffing as well. We are very fortunate to live in a country we can still obtain medical attention. Please try to be understanding of wait times as well. I doubt they're all back there playing Pictionary! Maybe there was an emergency, maybe an employee called in sick....Think before you tarnish others careers with trivial complaints and reviews like so many I read. Trust me I will give a bad review when one is warranted but don't forget to also review the good ones. Have a great day!

I have been with DR. Romano for 30 years. I haven't seen him a lot (every 3 to 5 years). Dr. Romano has a great bedside manner. He has a great sense of humor. Unfortunately, now I only see him briefly before being put under. Dr. Romano treated my Barrettes Esophagus. I was happy with the outcome. I always feel reassured when he is performing the procedures.

Appointments are never on time and always running way behind schedule. Past experience 6+ visits average wait is between 45 min and 1.5+ hours before you even get into a room to be seen my a nurse not to mention the Doctor or PA. The office needs much better time management and to respect patients precious time.
