The only positive in this experience is that my shipment was picked up on the scheduled day and delivered 2 weeks later. I had a very small move; 12 pieces of furniture and 36 boxes-no mattress, no appliances, nothing large or heavy-did not take the additional insurance, and yet was charged almost $4000 to move 1300 miles. I did all the packing; the company just loaded the items (2 hours) drove (19 hrs) and unloaded (2 hrs). The original estimate was just under $2800: this is the correct price for this service, but MiniMoves plays "Bait and Switch". I added 16 boxes to the original estimate and they charged me about $90/box. My 2 year old sectional was damaged in the move. Waiting to see how this is handled. While I was trying to negotiate the final price because they kept adding to the "final" bill, they went ahead and charged my credit card without the proper authorization, or my signature on the final bill of lading. Under-handed, sneaky and a callous disregard for your stuff. Oh, and don't expect MiniMoves to actually do the work. They act like a broker and hire local moving companies at each end, so you have no idea what/who you're getting.

I think the most positive thing I can say is that my stuff got from point A to point B in one piece. I very suddenly had to move. My parents graciously opted to front the cost and they picked MiniMoves based on the original quote provided and that they offered full service help as they weren't able to come and help me pack themselves. I called to confirm the day and time the movers would be arriving as I was designated as the primary point of contact and they had not yet contacted me about the time of the move, despite being told they would. So I had to reach out to them first. The movers arrived and they seemed fine from what I observed. They were polite, and they confirmed everything that needed to be packed and said it should all be fine. So they set to work, and I tried to stay out of the way, which was perhaps my mistake. Now, the contract DOES state that they reserve the right to update the bill based on actual inventory and labor. However, I also firmly believe that an updated estimate should be given BEFORE the movers start their work and you sign your papers. I wasn't informed that the bill had changed until AFTER my belongings had already been carted away. Which is within their right, but man does that feel shady to me to inform me that the bill had gone from $4300 to $7200 when my belongings are basically already being held hostage. Beyond that, I received an email that the payment couldn't go through (because the bank flagged such a large transaction) and I emailed back within 5 minutes that we had approved the payment and to rerun it. They did not rerun it or even look at my email, as I received a call the next day asking about it again. Furthermore, after the payment went through, I was told I would receive a call THAT day to confirm the dropoff time. I did not. The next day I emailed again. I didn't receive any response. I called again instead the next day, and was told they weren't sure why no one had contacted me. By this point, we were only 3 days out from what was SUPPOSED to be the latest delivery date per the contract. The agent tells me they will check and get back to me. I receive confirmation the NEXT day that the earliest day they can deliver will be 3 days after what was supposed to be the LATEST delivery date in the original agreement. Well, i guess finally I have my things. Although, the first thing that set me off when I inspected the boxes (as my dad was the one who received delivery, everything was stacked in the garage), is that I saw a box with an expensive 3D printer in it, in a box LABELED in BIG RED LETTERS that it was fragile, at the bottom of a pile of other boxes. Luckily, the printer was not damaged. Other boxes appeared to be crumpling under the weight of the boxes on top of them as well. They moved a table top into my room, but for some reason the pegs that make the adjustable legs work were straight up missing. My cricut mat had foot prints all over it, and it was bent, so I'll have to replace that (which isn't outrageously expensive, but they are $30-40 and when you've paid $7200 to have it moved, I guess you'd expect it to be in better shape). Although the thing that I think upset me the most is that I had organizational drawers (typically used for things like screws), in which I'd organized thousands of beads, sequins, and flatback gems by color and size (ranging from 1mm to 25mm) and... for some unexplainable reason, all three of these drawer sets had been placed into boxes SIDEWAYS. So, upon trying to remove them from the boxes, all the gems, beads, rings, etc. spilled out onto the floors. Thousands upon thousands of them. They may as well have just dumped them all out into a bin and said good luck--actually, that would have been better since at least they wouldn't have rolled across the floors and under all my furniture. I'm honestly scared to continue going through my belongings for fear of what else was packed in absolutely ludicrous ways. I wish I'd never let someone else pack my things. Overall, I'm incredibly disappointed in my experience.

I just moved from Boston to the DC area and had a great experience with MiniMoves! This was my first time making a big move by myself and I was a little nervous, but I set my move up with Erik, who was very nice, answered all my basic moving questions, and was very easy to reach to update my inventory. The movers themselves were very polite and respectful both during pickup and delivery, which I was originally a tad worried about as I am a younger female. The movers even helped me take some large cardboard boxes that were previously in my apartment out to the recycling before dropping off my belongings. I was also pleasantly surprised that my items arrived in 6 days, which was less than the 1-3 week range that I was provided up front.

The Mini Movers Team, Angel, David and Marcos, were organized and efficient when moving a lot of heavy furniture and other items to our new home. They were careful not to damage anything. Items were wrapped securely prior to moving them. Great job, fair price. Eric Thompson made me feel comfortable about the move and the time required.
