The company is very growth focused. It is nice that they will train you, and it is nice having a fuel island and truck wash at the yard, and mechanics to fix your equipment at a moment’s notice. What was not nice is having to wait 90 days for uniforms and being expected to have one coverall last you until then. I was told that everyone is on a rotating schedule - not accurate at all, in fact most aren’t. If you opt for day shift, it is 5 AM - 5 PM. Dispatch will plan on having the truck back for the night shift drivers, and if anything comes up or you are behind, loads will get moved off of you, meaning you will lose money. The convoluted pay structure is a mix of loaded miles, empty miles, a flat pickup rate and flat delivery rate. You do not get paid until you have waited for an hour, meaning you can waste several hours of your day and not have a cent to show for it. Once I looked at the numbers, my pay came out to less than $25/hour. They advertise $100k+ per year - that’s IF you are outside the SLC market, IF you are on night shift and don’t have to deal with traffic and parking issues and lines at the refineries, IF you pick up extra loads, IF you cut corners at your job (but don’t get caught because they can and do drive around and spy on you) and IF you work every single extra day or day off and holiday, then maybe you’ll get close to that. Caveat emptor - Alpha is a good way to get your foot in the door, but not worth staying in it for the long haul.

The diesel mechanics are top notch. Always willing to help out and fix your truck when you are in a bind. They always go above and beyond to get you back out on the road

Since no one will answer my calls, today as we were driving south bound on I-15 in Utah, one driver was speeding in unsafe weather. He cut off a couple of cars, almost hitting them. His license plate read TH6944. Hopefully he doesn’t kill anyone today!
