I have both a severe physical disability and immunocompromised status that have made it almost impossible to find an apartment that is: 1. Accessible 2. Safe for my health 3. Affordable -- but that still stays in Madison so that I am able to keep access to my disability services and the 10 specialty medical providers that do not exist or cannot be accessed in other cities anymore. Although Covid led to some delays, Movin' Out kept in touch with me on their waitlist, and then in what felt like a miracle when my old landlord hiked the rent at a supposed low income apartment $50 AGAIN, I had to just move out and become homeless. Movin' Out was able to help me and I finally got an apartment that met all of my needs, and that was above and beyond what I hoped. Their staff and especially the person that I worked with most was exemplary, and I don't feel that it is overstating it to say that they saved my life by providing me support -- always following and keeping in the spirit of the ADA as well which a lot of housing services unfortunately do not, but Movin' Out does. I have been in my new apartment now for almost 3 months. I still love it and I still count my blessings every day that I finally found a place to help me.
