Our experience was the pits. Only part of his employees were actually movers. Most of them had no clue what to do (they were day labor) with potty mouths. Our stuff was just pretty much thrown in the house without rhyme or reason we didn't even have walk ways into room, down hallways or anything. Even left a box of food outside. I hated that we had to pay him so much money for such crappy work. He brought a guy from WNC to ENC and he paid him the least and he worked hard.

Doug was there the day after I called requesting information on a planned move. He madeva competitive estimate and was flexible with our dates. His crew actually completed packing and loading a full day earlier than expected. They were all professional and considerate of needs. The actual amount actually came out lower than the estimate which was a great surprise. I hope we never move again but if we do we will definitely use Appalachian Movers Transport again

Doug Carpenter and his team from Appalachian Movers moved my husband and me from California to North Carolina. They did a fantastic job! They honored both the the pickup and delivery times down to the agreed upon hour. Also, Doug stuck to his flat rate moving bid ( submitted after he reviewed photographs of our belongings) and there were no surprise charges or overages, which was really important to us, as many other moving companies have numerous 'overage' charges above and beyond their initial estimate/bid. With Doug, there were no surprises. We negotiated a flat rate, and that's what we paid. We have antiques and various fragile pieces and everything arrived in great condition! Doug was friendly and personable, and his team members were all business, and very careful. Thank you so much, Doug and team - we've heard moving cross country is usually stressful, but you made it easy! - Tom and Rebecca

Doug and his team moved me from Asheville to Eastern Shore, Maryland. They were prompt, honest, courteous, kind, professional and very careful with my belongings. Their customer care was insurmountable. Their rates were far less than the national companies and most important I felt a sense of trust in Doug from the very first phone call. I would use them again! - Debora M

We recently purchased a house in Hendersonville, and I set about getting bids to move our household goods to our new home. Doug Carpenter impressed me with his frank, professional demeanor, and I was glad when his bid came in hundreds less than the next lowest bidder. Now that the move is over, I am even more pleased about going with this organization. As other reviews have mentioned, Doug and his crew showed up on time, worked very hard, were consistently polite and careful with all our goods, and got everything moved into place with no damage to any of our possessions. They even moved heavy furniture around multiple times to accommodate my wife as she tried to figure out the best layout for our furniture in this new location. And they did all this without the slightest complaint. And after all this, the cost of the move was LESS than the estimate! I have moved several times during my career, and the experience with Doug Carpenter and Appalachian Movers was definitely the best. We would recommend them without reservation.
