Back A Yard on San Carlos St, San Jose. Within the SJSU neighborhood. A nice place with no seating inside, 4 tables outside the store gives that home feeling of having a BBQ in your own backyard. I’m glad i ordered the Oxtails plate, the dish came with Rice and Beans and d Plantains on the side, the Jerk seasoning was a sweet and tangy blend with a smoky allspice aftertaste. The stew was mildly hot, the Beans and Rice were mixed together with coconut notes at the end, the plate was served with sweet Fried Plantain, a good size meal. I had a side of Collard Greens, the chop leaves were steamed hot with a slightly bitter taste.

The food is a 4/5but its close and convenient and the mgr Elyse was very nice every time (weekly )however the Guy Santiago is the exact reason why I'm not coming back to the restaurant. Poor customer service. He had a bad attitude. He was smug and rude entitled even customer service matters. I will drive the extra mile for it, I'm done with this establishment and their food, if u want it choose another location. The one in Campbell is great, I will have to go back to them... If I decide to go back

I was excited to find a Caribbean restaurant in the area. However, I was disappointed by the establishment. the only beverages available were Coke, bottled sparkling water, and beer. They wouldn't even give us tap water. I ordered goat curry with a side of beans and rice. The goat curry was good but there were maybe 5 beans in the beans and rice. When I asked if they had sauces for the rice they said they were $.38 each, after we had already paid over $45 for our food. I didn't have cash, so no sauces. They never asked before we paid if we wanted any. My husband says his food was really dry. I wrote 1 for atmosphere because they were doing work on the place with power tools while we were there, which I understand has to happen, but maybe after hours? And there was no parking available in back as it is all tenant only. All that I could live with if the service, food, and beverage options were worth returning to.

A small place with good Caribbean food, we order the Jerk chicken plate with side of collard greens. A great place for quick healthy food. We also ordered once the Goat Curry, it’s good as well but there is a lot of bones inside so you need to eat carefully. The cashier was really nice.

The best Caribbean food in San Jose. The jerk salmon is always perfectly cooked, and you have to try the Jamaican patties. Even the veggie one is so good it makes you take a double take that it's vegetarian. Jerk tofu and shrimp available for people who don't eat meat.
