The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because the 1 mover who showed up was great. I booked 2 movers for the 2 hour minimum. When he arrived, I asked when the lead would arrive and was told they couldn't send anyone. Communication has been terrible. Before you even sign the contract the emails start coming. Multiple times a day. The 1 mover was able to complete what I needed. However, I got a call after he was gone asking to reschedule for later in the day. Today, I call asking for an adjustment but they let me know the full charge has to go through before they can process a credit. We all know a charge will hit your credit card instantly but credits seem to take 5+ business days. I do not recommend Bellhop.

I recently contacted Bellhop for a last-minute move within my local area. Within minutes of entering my information on the website, I was contacted over the phone by a bellhop representative who tried to get me to quickly commit to a move. I barely had time to look over Bellhop's policies and procedures, and their service team was already trying to get me to make a commitment. To move a small amount of furniture down the street, I was quoted at approximately $700. It was not made clear over the phone that short-notice moves incurred additional fees for cancellations or rescheduling—a critical detail considering my tight timeline. After finding a more competitive rate of $500 with College HUNKS, I opted to cancel my service with Bellhop within 24 hours of booking. During the cancellation process, the agent initially informed me of a $50 fee, only to contradict this figure moments before concluding the call, mentioning a recent policy change and advising me to await an email for the final fee. Note that the agent was unable to provide me with the true fee over the phone. Imagine my surprise when I saw an email quoting a $200 cancellation charge, which was inconsistent with the initial information provided over the phone! When I later checked my bank statement, I saw that I was actually charged nearly $300 across two separate transactions! I went from being told $50, to reading $200, to seeing nearly $300 in cancellation fees. Keep in mind that Bellhop has rendered no service to me, at any point. The lack of clear communication from Bellhop agents about the actual cancellation fees was disappointing. Furthermore, the ambiguity in the cancellation policy itself, especially regarding orders both booked and cancelled shortly before the intended move, added to the confusion. If Bellhop is going to be this strict with how short-notice moves are handled, they need to make their policies clearer with customers up-front. In contrast, my experience with College HUNKS was notably positive. They offered a lower rate, our interactions were straightforward and respectful, and my move with them went flawlessly. Given these experiences, I would caution potential customers about using Bellhop, especially for urgent moves. The apparent lack of transparency and consistency in Bellhop’s customer service and billing practices was distressing and costly. I have since initiated a dispute with my bank recover what I can, and would recommend others to consider more transparent and reliable alternatives for their moving needs.
