My family's experience with District Relocators for a move from DC to NYC (Brooklyn) was excellent. Ahead of the move, Tony was our main point of contact and was very responsive and accommodating. He answered all our questions promptly and accommodated a significant increase in the amount of items to be moved that we alerted him to less than a week before our move date. We ended up with many more boxes than initially estimated. The change required a reasonable increase in the cost estimate, which we were fine with. For the move itself, Anthony was foreperson and managed a large team in DC for load up, and a smaller team for unloading in Brooklyn the next day. All the movers worked hard, were courteous, and took good care of everything they moved. The teams arrived on-time in DC and ahead of schedule in Brooklyn. We highly recommend District Relocators.

I would not recommend using these movers. The movers themselves were fine. However, there was poor communication between their manager and the movers. I notified the manager early on in the quote process that the elevator in our building was broken and that we're on the 5th floor. He assured me that would be no problem and that there's a surcharge for stairs. I was fine with that and he updated the quote to reflect that. When the movers arrived, they apparently hadn't been told they'd be moving us from the 5th floor. They were annoyed and said we should have had a bigger crew for the move ( there were 3 of them). Because of this miscommunication, our move ended up taking longer than anticipated and the charge for the stairs was more than we'd agreed upon. This made the move significantly more expensive than it should have been. The only reason it's not 1 star is that the movers themselves worked as efficiently as they could. Go with a different company with better communication.

Movers were quick and efficient, the man managing the movers was very polite and professional. Here’s my BUT… However, the movers had to stop and get gas, which I would assume stopping to get gas would have been a smart move to make before the process, also they did lose one important piece to my bed frame forcing me and my partner to sleep on the floor for a few nights, they were also speeding in the moving truck which was a bit concerning, then one or two out of the four movers got into a petty altercation over an elevator with a resident at my new residency. All an all the price was not bad compared other options and the time frame. I would recommend them JUST be wary of the things I’ve listed previously.

The team was very prompt and moved quickly to load my items with care. They wasted NO time at all and and took care with my fragile items. They disassembled my bed and re-assembled everything at my new place. They wrapped my TVs and paintings too! The process was very smooth from start to finish. I highly recommend District Movers.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. To start the front-man, Tony, was rude, condescending, and unaccommodating. The "contract" is poorly worded and leaves out important information concerning the move - but Tony will make you feel stupid for not understanding the process. When the movers arrived at my new apartment, Anthony (the lead mover) claimed there is a "stair fee," the rate for which is $100 per ten steps. I referenced the contract, which said "a fee for additional flights of stairs." I took this to mean any flights of stairs not reported in the original inventory/request. Nope! Apparently they mean any stairs at all. What kind of moving company is unwilling to go up stairs? And in New York City?? I refused this price, so Anthony began to haggle the price for them to carry my couch up the stairs. Clearly a con! In the end, I simply added a little to the tip, but boy do I wish I had not! At the end of the move, it was discovered that the movers had left my bed rails behind in DC. Anthony promised he would pick them up and return them to me either by mail or with their next trip to NYC. Cue the next three weeks of empty excuses, ignored messages and emails and flimsy promises to call me back/send the rails, etc. Eventually, BOTH TONY AND ANTHONY BLOCKED ME. Straight up blocked my phone number!! My messages no longer said delivered and when I called, the line told me the number no longer existed, which is what happens when you have been blocked. I was absolutely aghast that a company would conduct business this way. Clearly they just did not want to follow up /deal with returning my belongings to me. Thankfully, I was able to dispute the charge with my credit card company and recoup the money for the lost goods, but no thanks to District Relocators!! This company is full of scummy fraudsters. AVOID AT ALL COST.
