I recently moved from San Antonio TX to Danville AR and my contracted mover was Downey out of Conway AR. I had over 18,500 lbs of property that was loaded and unloaded by a team of true professionals. I want to express my complete satisfaction with the driver Charlie and his assistant Rhett both were at my old home and new home to oversee and load/unload my property. The two were very respectful of my home, property and to me! I couldn’t have asked for anything more! I highly recommend Downey Moving &Storage.

Let me start off by saying it is a disservice to our military members that the government contracts these people to move them. They caused around $4,000 worth of damage to our home and my household goods. The OWNER tried to blame $3,000s of that on my elderly disabled cat. He tried every trick in the book to gaslight me and shift the blame, making up blatant lies. Luckily I took photos of everything before the move and was able to prove he was just lying. One of his employees damaged my house and tried to say it was like that before hand, again photos. Dishonest all around. I just wonder how many military members are just stressed, tired, and just don't have any energy to deal with this company. There was a guy that helped pack my stuff, he was cool though.

I would absolutely love to make a recommendation regarding Downey’s moving company in Conway—primarily that no one ever use them again. Sorry, shady, and as dishonest a company as I have ever worked with. We negotiated with these people for two weeks: they were to come today, pack whatever was left, leave tonight(Monday), DRIVE THROUGH THE NIGHT (this was emphasized more than once BY THEM), meet us in Indiana and unload the truck tomorrow (Tuesday). This was all coordinated with great attention to detail on our end because a) we’re moving out of state and b)we’re moving out of state with small children. Also we knew it was Thanksgiving week so we were very specific about needs and expections. They show up today and stated they were never supposed to pack any boxes, telling us in the next breath how the owner told them to remove the empty packing boxes off the truck before they came to our house. My husband negotiated *again*, raising the price to get done what we were initially quoted. Whatever. At this point of course they knew we had to get out of our house by Tuesday at noon, so they had us where they wanted us. They finally get there, spend 5 hours (including their half hour lunch break) and then proceed to tell us that they can’t be in Indiana until…wait for it…SATURDAY. Because they put another load of someone’s stuff on the same truck and planned to drop it off on Friday in Missouri. After charging us an additional !!!$1700!!! For 5 hours worth of work they were supposed to do as part of the initial cost/quote. The owner was completely unprofessional, referring to my husband as “son” multiple times and eventually telling him that he doesn’t wanna deal with “people like us.” People who want to move? So do this guy a favor and make sure he doesn’t have to deal with people who want to move, I guess. Seems like a pretty poor business model for a moving company, but a great one for someone who wants to rip you off.

We are a military family that moved out of state. The lady that surveyed was nice and helpful. The men that put our stuff on the truck did a great job as well. However, the men that packed our stuff did a horrible job. My husband has served for 15 years so this was our 7th move, and never, ever have we’ve had this awful of a packing job. My daughters toys were packed with planters (that still had dirt residue) and garage tools. My office stuff was packed with garage stuff. I had several totes already packed and organized but they opened them and packed more stuff in them. They even took stuff out of the totes and repacked them in other boxes. We are still unpacking, and it’s no surprise now to see kitchen stuff, clothes, or toys, or precious items mixed with tools, etc from our garage. It’s the biggest mess and so unorganized. I will ultimately have to toss some our things because the shape they’re in now. I’ve never had to leave a poor review on one of our moving companies in the last 15 yrs, but here it is. I do not recommend using this company unless they change the way they pack stuff. By the way the driver and the unloaders at our destination did a fabulous job!
