Was on a burger hunt for smash burger style and found this place in downtown San Jose. My hubs happened to see it on TikTok, his favorite food hunts. We love how crispy and thin the patties are, the different heat flavors of their sauce and I love love their steak curly fries. Never had steak fries curled like that before. The fries are good with their dipping house sauce. We also tried their Grilled Cheese Nashville HOT chicken burgers which they are mainly known for. It's huge and good for two people. It's a huge piece of chicken breaded with crispy cheese. I still prefer their cheeseburgers better. I like their beers here, too. Not many seats outside or in but I see many get to go pick ups. Service is pretty good and usually food comes out fast but they will tell you if they are behind. The place is always busy and right next to a paid parking lot and stage theater. The neighborhood is sketchy as many bums are around. This is right next to a small bar as well. Kind of odd location for this popular burger place. I would try it still. I wish they offered onion rings. A little on the expensive prices though but I think it's worth it!

I saw a reel on social media about this spot having a smashed burger so I was very intrigued to try. This place is located in downtown San Jose, which means parking was a bit harder to find. I ordered the Cheeseburger with fries and made it a Double Patty. Cheeseburger and fries: 9/10 I was hoping the patties would be a bit more smashed but regardless, it was super juicy and the burger sauce enhanced the burger a lot. I would recommend asking for more burger sauce on the side. The fries were curled up differently than what I’m used to, but it was super good. I loved the texture of it. Fast and friendly service. I would definitely come back again!

This was my first time trying Scratch Cookery, and I must say, it may be my favorite of the 'Nashville' style chicken places. I ordered a Level 2 (cayenne on both sides) of chicken tenders with fries. I don't know if I received Level 2 (cayenne on both sides), but what I received was fresh and moist. The coating was crunchy, delicate, and so flavorful. You can totally taste the cayenne, but it isn't spicy (by my measure, but I do like spicy). The fries were super cute and crispy. I liked that they were a variation of a steak fry. I will be back. 😊 I can't comment on the service or atmosphere since I didn't actually pick it up, and I reserve 5 stars for places that really hit all the marks. I'll update once I've been and ordered personally. Great find today!

We went to Scratch Cookery late on a Friday, and it was pretty packed. The line to order was a bit of a mess, but the food looked worth it. After getting a couple chicken sandwiches, I can confirm that the food was worth it. I went pretty conservative on the spice level (0 for one sandwich, and 1 for the other). I’d probably bump it up next time. A nice addition to the spicy sandwiches is the ability to use the packets of provided honey to make the sandwiches a sweet and savory combo. It was pretty nice. My one complaint is the fries. They were pretty bland and unremarkable.

My friends and I went here for dinner the other night before attending a show at SJ Improv. I didn’t want to get my hands dirty so I ordered the loaded fries with the classic nugs and was topped with cheese, cole slaw, pickles, and their signature comeback sauce. It was a hefty portion with flavorful juicy chicken nugs. I regret not moving up the spice level since I was being a wuss. As yummy as all the components were, I think after several bites, everything starts to muddle together so it starts getting overwhelming for one person to try finishing the whole box. Will definitely be back to try their popular chicken sandwiches since that’s what they’re known for!
