Big Shout out to Dumbo Moving! I called and by 7am the next day they packed, moved and stored all my items. I did not have to be there but they were very professional, efficient and communicative. Thank you so much.

It is hit or miss with what movers you get. My first set of movers were hustlers from Georgia (the country). They showed up on time, but then refused to move any of my items until I paid them $700 (this is after I had already paid over $1,000 to the office). They wasted over an hour arguing with me before they finally agreed to $300, but then they did a horrible job. They did not wrap anything, even though I paid for blankets, plastic wrap etc to be used. They were rough with my boxes, and even kicked them around. This caused some of my wooden furniture to chip, my wooden and glass picure frames to break, and resulted in my TV being broken. Then they refused to take my other items, as now they were short on time to get to their next scheduled client. I had to rent a uHaul to move the rest of my items, which a new set of Dumbo movers assisted me with. These men were the polar opposite of the Georgian men. They were very nice, careful, and patient. They didn't ask me for any money (even when I offered, they refused). Dumbo management provided me with a small refund, but it did not nearly cover the cost of me buying a new TV, and having to pay for the uHaul, and all the extra inconveniences. I would say, do not take your chances with using them, but if you do, ask for the guy from Malta!

If I could give this company a zero rating, I would. Avoid them at all costs. The representative was initially friendly and assured me that I would only need to pay for one trip and that they would provide a truck large enough for all my furniture and boxes. However, when the movers arrived, they were rude and aggressive. They brought a small truck that was already filled with their own items, leaving no space for our belongings. They forced us to pay for a second trip, totaling an additional $700, including a cash tip, and demanded payment on the spot or they would not move our stuff. This occurred on our last day in the old apartment, leaving us no time to find another moving company. Additionally, none of our furniture, including our 50” flat-screen TV, was protected, leading to damage to our TV stand and bookshelves. These people are dishonest and unprofessional. Beware! Note: The photos show their items occupying more than a third of the truck after they moved out our belongings. This was why our items didn't fit, despite their assurances that everything would.

Update: Jay and Dan from Dumbo reached out to me to address the issues that were mentioned in my original review. I was informed that they were deeply sorry for the issues on the day of our move and was offered partial compensation for the damage on our furniture. I was also informed that the movers involved in our move will be spoken to and will not be assigned to additional jobs without further training. Although this does not take away the stress we felt on the day of the move, it is nice to know that the company values customer service and the well being of their customers when they feel they have been wronged. --- This was the WORST moving experience I have ever had. I moved from NYC to Northern Virginia with a same day delivery plan. The drive is 5 hrs at most with traffic. The movers left NY at 12pm and arrived in VA at 8:30pm. 1. When the movers walked in, the 1st thing one of them said to me was the standard tip is 20%. Before looking at our furniture and before moving a single thing. 2. Before I left NYC I spoke with the head mover that our move in time in Virginia was 3pm-6pm. He stated he had to make a few stops but should be in VA before 5pm which would give them enough time. My husband left NYC at the same time as the movers around 12pm. While I was driving, I got a text at 2:17pm that they were just leaving NJ to drive to VA and would need 4 hours so would get to VA at 6:17pm. I immediately called the VA building and they stated they could have someone stay to open the freight elevator until 7 but no later. I called Joey at DUMBO and he repeatedly told me I needed to talk to the front desk to extend the moving time even after I explained I had spoken to them multiple times and they were already extending the time for us. I then got a text from the movers that the arrival time was 7:19pm, then another that stated it was 7:45pm, and a last one that was 8:11pm. While we waited, I frantically was calling Joey to figure out what we could do if the building wouldn’t allow us to move in due to us being 2.5 hours past the time we were supposed to finish and he was unwilling to help with any solution. His solution was we find a local storage unit and then hire local movers to move the furniture into our apartment on another day because according to him it wouldn’t cost much money. He was unwilling to give us any sort of refund and to make matters worse, lied to us and tried to tell us the movers had no other job. He tried to blame the 4 hour delay on traffic until I told him I had spoken to the driver who said they had another job AND I had a text message that stated “Iif i hadnot got second job I would be there already but i am realy sorry about this situation”. Even with this information there was no remorse, change of attitude, or help offered. 3. Luckily our building management was very helpful when they heard what was happening and allowed the desk staff to open the freight elevator until 9pm to get our stuff into our apartment. The movers arrived at 8:18pm. Once they arrived, we asked them to bring all the large furniture up first because the front desk staff needed to close that freight elevator and the boxes could come up the regular elevator. They ignored our request and kept just moving what they wanted. 4. When the movers started unpacking things from their truck, I noticed they had taped some of our furniture with no blankets. In the photos you can see our nightstand and ottoman have no covers. When the furniture had been removed from our apartment the tape was not put on, so I’m assuming they taped these things along with our other belongings once we were not in eyesight. If I had known, I would have never allowed them to directly tape on top of the paint. When everything was moved into the VA apartment, they proceeded to rip the tape off aggressively and as you would imagine, ripped off paint on some of our furniture. 5. The legs of our bed were put on reversed, our bed was damaged, and our furniture was stained in places because like I mentioned above, it was not wrapped correctly.

This was my first time using movers to move my furniture to and from and it was a nightmare! Save yourself the trouble and headache and steer clear of this company. Their workers are customer service care team are completely unprofessional, untrained, and lack People skills. I scheduled the window from 1pm-4pm. I had to consistently reach out to the company for an ETA once it was 2pm since their word the day before was they would call prior to my window time to give me and ETA. That was strike one. 4pm arrived and still no movers on site, I reached back out to have customer care lie and say they are on site since it was 20 minutes ETA since they last reached out. 6:10pm and they pulled up. My husband and I entire day was a waste. Both guys, LOUIS and LUCA walked in completely smelling of smoke and looked high did not introduce themselves to us they just went straight into asking what items we are moving. When I asked them questions, they were uncertain and ignored it. LOUIS was not even helping to move, instead he was "supervising" the other guy, stepping out for smoke breaks and taking personal calls in his cell phone. They did not handle wrapping and caring for my furniture pieces appropriately, instead broke drawers, scratched wood pieces and did not wrap some pieces entirely. I'm addition, they did not know how to dismantle my reclining sofa! They reached out to their service rep PETER and he spoke to me stating that I would need to get the 'sofa doctors' on site to figure it out. He quoted me an additional $450! My husband and I YouTubed how to dismantle it and figured it out on our own. What a waste of time! The movers got done moving everything from the first location after 1030pm-11pm. Then offloaded at new location after 1pm! This was a total nightmare. PETER was extremely disrespectful and kept talking over me when I was trying to explain that I needed a few items removed from my invoice and adjusted. Raised his voice and disregarded my concerns. Save your money and use another company.
