ETA: The reply to my original review shows how seriously Hutchcaraft takes damage to property and the estimate and planning they use in a move. Few comments: - I am not in the moving industry and am not an expert in moving and so I rely on the company to advise appropriately. -I asked for an estimate including packing as I have small children and had no time to pack. I did not try to lower or change the estimate and I was not informed or told that there would be a significant risk of damage to my home and property based on the agreed upon estimate. -I was told quick pack system (i am not sure of the exact name) would be adequate. These were NOT brought by movers when they arrived for the move out and obviously was not. -The fact that a treadmill and other heavy workout equipment was to be moved was known to the estimator and crew (one of the crew members both picked up and delivered the items). I don't know what is required to safely move these items and to minimize damage. I assume someone could've informed me prior to damaging my floor that their plan was not safe and that we had to revise or obtain more crew members. - No one mentioned masonite board and I don't know why this wasn't communicated to me prior to damaging the floor. Is this something I am to provide? Why wasn't it brought? -The crew had access to the original boxes for the TV but they were not used. -The TV was likely impacted by the barbell; the box would've been unlikely to prevent damage. -I would just tell anyone that is using this company that they should go with someone else. If you do use Hutchcraft make sure to add significant additional insurance and the cost of item replacement to the estimate you receive. This cost me more than the more expensive quote I got from Allied. Original Review: I recently had a basement renovation performed and needed my finished basement cleared of the furniture. I got quotes from 2 different local moving and storage companies. Hutchcraft was the most competitive. The estimator and office staff were perfectly pleasant and very responsive. However, the moving crew were not organized. They didn't understand what needed to be done. When they came to pack and move our items out they didn't have appropriate supplies. They moved things out haphazardly. When our items returned from storage approximately 3 months later my TV was damaged as seen in the picture below. The moving crew informed me of the damage to the TV at the time of delivery. However, my newly laid vinyl plank flooring was also damaged most likely by something that was dropped on the plank, also pictured below. I was not informed of the damage to the plank by the crew which would have been obvious. Unfortunately the compensation for the TV which is the only item I claimed did not come close to covering a replacement or even the depreciated value of the TV. Very disappointed by this move and would choose to use another company for any future moving needs.

Edit: The owner's reply to my review only reinforces my opinion. Oh, the packing crew SAYS everything was packed correctly? Of course they do. Well, my photos show otherwise, and shifting of the crate in transit absolutely did not place boxes in my bookshelf (which you claim was wrapped), nor did it cause the floor mats roll up on top of other items instead of lay flat on the floor, or put my barbell diagonally in between other items. Stop making excuses for your untrained and unprofessional crew. Horrible loading service, estimation service, and customer service. Unskilled workers improperly loaded my items causing damages to many of them. When the container was opened, my belongings spilled out including a broken bookcase (that had boxes placed on the shelves). My rubber floor mats were rolled up rather than placed...on the floor, flat. My squat rack was laid crookedly on top of metal plates, with my heavy mats and bookcase on top, which bent the rack, and it now has to be REPLACED. Boxes were strewn about rather than stacked on top of one another. My dresser was loose among the weight equipment and damaged in the back, rather than flat against a wall. My bench, while not actually broken thankfully, suffered significant wear because they did not lay it flat upside down, but rather diagonally in the giant mess of everything else. When they did my estimate, they tried to charge me for 2 containers, despite the fact they obviously only needed 1. This was based on one gentleman spending approximately 15 seconds in my home. I had to call them and convince them to drop it. Even with terrible loading, they managed it with one container. Surprise surprise. You'll also find their post-move customer service to be awful. They do not handle the claim, United Van Lines does. UVL partners with these local movers and thus handles claims, which I understand, but UVL did not load my items, Hutchcraft did, and all they will be able to do for you is direct you to the UVL website. Seriously, don't let these people touch your stuff. They don't train their employees on proper loading techniques. Though in all honesty, putting a flat rubber mat on the floor does not seem like something that needs to be trained. Same thing for placing boxes on a bookshelf. Or placing a metal rack flat on the floor. A 10 year old could have organized this container better. No training, and apparently no employment intelligence screenings.

Please note that my review is based on a local in town move. YMMV if you have a long distance move. Hutchcraft wasn't my first choice, but they should have been! Through no fault of their own, the other moving contractor I hired was unable to support my move due to my closing date being delayed. I called Hutchcraft, and they were able to squeeze me in with little notice. They were even able to quote my move the same day based upon my prior contractors quote and be very price competitive. On moving day my movers called me to say they were running EARLY and wanted to make sure that was ok. Once they arrived, the movers were kind, courteous and efficient and had me moved in record time. 10/10

I just moved cross country from San Antonio, TX to Champaign, IL and contracted my move through Mayflower moving. The moving company that packed my stuff in San Antonio did a hap-hazard job packing my furniture and there was a lot of damage to my furniture. The next day the owners son came out to assess the damage and did fast and amazing repair work to my broken furniture AND repaired the bent stabilizer on my peloton bike (which, if you’ve ever felt how heavy those things are, was not an easy task). This company went above and beyond to make sure that everything was in proper condition. While I hope to never have to do a cross-country move again, I will definitely be calling this company to help with all future moving needs.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! They are unprofessional, and dishonest. We had someone from the company come out to give us an estimate about 3 months before we moved. He told us it will take 8 hours to move our belongings over a distance of 35 miles. He put an estimate of 11-12 hours to allow for any incidents. When the movers arrived, they had a smaller van and no boxes. It took them 2 days and 2 trips(16 hours instead of the original 8 hours we had been told). We had to sleep on air mattresses because we had planned on a single day’s move. The coordinator of the move, Julie, told us we had received an email stating the move will take 14 hours and 2 days. She also insisted we should have stayed home to “supervise” the move. She was rude, unprofessional and a liar. When I insisted we had received no such email and for her to resend the email, she said she had mistakenly told us that because she confused our last name with another clients! Very fishy statement right there. They ended up charging us 110% of the estimate for the move. I think they try to lure you to choose their company with lower hourly fees and time estimate and then cheat you in the end. We had another company make an estimate to move us in 6-7 hours at a higher hourly fee but we did not choose them because of the offer Hutchcraft made. The movers themselves were professional and courteous. The corporate company, Hutchcraft, is horrible. Sharing my experience so other people will know what to expect!
