Let me start out by stating that I am an advocate of neurofeedback, so the neurofeedback did help somewhat, which is what the 1 star is for. But my daughter could have gone anywhere for that. I am writing because Dr. Neusome is highly unethical. We went to him because he took my insurance at the time and did neurofeedback. My daughter had been seeing another psych who was drugging her up and Dr. Neusome assured us he did not agree with the psych, yet recommended she continue to see the other psych while seeing him? He diagnosed my dauighter with seizures (she had a head injury a few years back) and put her on seizure medication in addition to the lithium the other psych prescribed, I guess to give her time to level out? She was in college and had seen a neurologist in southern California, so she couldn't get down right away to her neurologist. She never diagnosed her with having seizures. He claims she's doing great and my daughter says she's less anxious. a few months later he informs her he won't be taking anymore insurance, so my daughter said she would go elsewhere. He tried to beg her to stay with him and "offered a reduced rate". She still said "no". He then recommended her to go to a Sutter Health facility "to look into outpatient services". She followed his orders and went there and they ended up taking her because in a psychologist session she did mention she was stressed. The psych asked if she'd felt suicidal and she said she did not but had thoughts of it before, especially after the accident, but she was fine. She just wanted to make sure she continued to feel fine. Next thing she knew, she was placed on a 72-hour hold. She couldn't call me for two days and I ended up having to fly there. I tried to get a hold of Dr. Neusome and couldn't get a hold of him. All the nurses and social worker didn't understand what she was doing there. Then, the psych on call determined her lithium levels were too low and she didn't like that my daughter said she was fine and put her on a 5250. She remained calm the whole time and all the nurses felt really sorry for her. I had to fly up with her uncle to try and help get her out. We asked if they had talked to Dr. Neusome because he had told me she was doing great. He had managed to talk to my daughter briefly, but didn't really try to get her out. Long story short, the nurses and staff were helping my daughter and us more to tell us what to do because she seemed fine. Finally, a nicer on-call psychiatrist released her. I finally got a hold of Dr. Neusome after this ordeal and he claimed that he didn't put herin there and it was the decision of the doctors. That was a bold faced lie. The social worker that called me said "She was placed on a 5150 on the advise of Dr. Peter Neusome for severe depression". He claimed he felt bad that the other doctor put her in for longer, but I have to say that part of the conditions of her leaving was that she had a regular psych to see, which desparately put her right back to the doctor she said she was not going to see anymore because he didn't take insurance-Dr. Neusome. She saw him an an psychologist he employed for a short time for just a couple of times..She didn't like working with him and left shortly after. I found a neuropsych who deals with traumatic brain injuires, so she goes to him My daughter 's grades suffered, but she barely managed to graduate last May and now we are stuck with a huge medical bill. Also, my daughter did manage to fly down south and see her neurologist. She did an extensive seuisure exam and found no evidence of seisures and was surprised a psychiatrist was prescribing her seizure meds.

I personally had a great experience with Dr. Newsome, for the first time I actually see a treatment plan to actually improve my life.
