We just used this company for a local move and they did an excellent job. The movers were friendly and very careful with our items. Moving is a stressful experience, so it’s very helpful to have good movers!

If I could give this company -5 I would! They were horrible. Boxes arrived late. When the truck arrived I had smashed and tore boxes. A lot of broken items and a lot of my things were missing! The guys who unloaded the truck did a horrible job unloading my things and putting them in my storage! I have to file a claim now. I don’t recommend you using this company for anything!! Just a few pictures of how they handled my things!

I am disappointed. I inherited a midcentury couch and a Haywood Wakefield bedroom set from my parents, which is very special to me. It was their first furniture set, bought in 1956. I needed to move them from Louisiana to California. My sister recommended American Knights Moving (AKM). Unfortunately, I did not do much research. Their website said they were not a broker and owned a truck fleet. Their pictures on Google showed two men in AKM shirts carrying a mattress into an AKM truck via a ramp. If I had done the research, I would have discovered that AKM earned an "F" rating from the Better Business Bureau. See pic. I would have discovered that many claims, including deceptive business practices, had been filed with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration against AKM. The pickup went flawlessly. Four movers showed up, expertly wrapping and loading the furniture. The problem began at the delivery. The furniture had to be moved to the basement via a set of stairs with a 90-degree turn through an entryway with a ceiling height of only 6 feet 9 inches. The couch is almost 9 feet long, and the dresser weighs over 300 lbs. An 18-wheeler from a moving company other than AKM showed up for delivery. There was only one person in the truck, the driver. I asked him where his help was. He said he was alone. I could not believe that AKM would send someone alone for delivery when four movers were sent for pickup. After some back-and-forth conversation about the delivery, I figured I had no choice. I gave him the money. He then opened the truck door. I could see that the dresser had no protection on. What had happened to all the wrapped and taped blankets around it? I asked the driver about this. He said he had to unwrap the dresser and take the drawers out because it was too heavy to load by himself. I entered the trailer to get a closer look. The dresser had been damaged, scratched on top and one side. The damage was not caused by an accident while the mover was careful, but by negligence, moving it unprotected and leaving it unprotected. I said, "Don't they give you help?" He said that he has to do deliveries alone. There was no mention of help on the way, as AMK stated in response. I would have been happy to wait. He halfway wrapped the dresser back up, threw some folded packing blankets on the ground in front of the trailer door opening, and pushed the dresser to the edge. I said, "Hey, what are you doing?" It looked to me like he was preparing to drop the dresser onto the packing blankets, about a 4ft drop. Where is the ramp like in the pictures? I thought. He looked at me and said nothing. I said, "I won't let you drop that thing down. You will destroy it." He said, "Don't worry, I got it." At that moment, I was in a panic. I felt the driver's only goal was to get the furniture down in the basement, no matter what its condition was in the end, if it was delivered as a pile of sticks, job done. I ran over to the truck, put my hand on the dresser, and said, "I will help you lower this thing." I did. I helped him move all the furniture, ensuring each piece stayed safe. I helped him move the couch, which was a struggle for the two of us. In the end, a glass top was missing The dresser and one of the steps to the basement were damaged. I feel like I got baited with a professional moving company, then switched to a one-man show. Pics were sent the next day. I asked for a partial refund of the delivery. They refused because the driver said he didn't need help, but AKM wrote the driver up because he should have had help. They offered me $100 for the steps and around $180 for the dresser. I have an estimate to repair the dresser for $1200 to $1400, and I will have to pay movers, not AKM, to bring it to the shop and back. After posting this review, AKM wanted to know how they could change my opinion of them. I said I was unwilling to sign the confidential agreement. See pic. They could not guarantee that. I just want people to understand that they may not get what AKM claims to provide. I don't want others disappointed.

I was with my sister throughout her out-of-state move. Through this process she updated me in tears more often than not. Took two trucks to load her items (even though she was told just one was needed). Delayed delivery when she got to her new home, they were all sleeping on air mattresses! Ok. Loading issues and delivery happen...but when she got all her things FINALLY delivered half of it was DESTROYED!! No care was taken of her items. She was in absolute tears, and this company was NOT cheap!! Irreplaceable things gone! Items I got her that are very special to us...GONE!! Even if she gets reimbursement, unacceptable for the cost of this move. Pick another company!

Maria L. provided the best service during my daughter's move from the east coast to the west coast. Storage over the summer was at American Knights and Maria L. was the key person in the Houston storage facility to keep me informed on the status of the arrival to storage and departure to the west coast. Maria L. is a pleasure to work with. She takes ownership of ensuring the customer is happy with the service the company can provide. She made sure my daughter received all her items on time and as per contract. Moving your home is always an emotional experience and can turn into a disaster within seconds, however, Maria L. knows this and always made sure to reassure us that the items would be delivered as per agreement. We received everything on the west coast as expected and we couldn't be happier with the service Maria L provided as well as her follow up to ensure we were satisfied with the experience.
