Three years ago, I needed a heart valve replacement. I spent a week in a local hospital in Mississippi waiting for surgery before being dismissed the day before the surgery was scheduled. The surgeon planning to do the surgery was not sure he could perform the surgery successfully with the health conditions I had at the time. After going back home, I searched online to find someone who specialized in heart valve replacements and found Dr. Castro. I called his office and was greeted by a kind lady named Liz. She could tell by the way I was breathing that I was in dire need of medical attention. Had it not been for her, I may have not made it to see Dr. Castro. On Thursday, Liz set me up for an appointment 2000 miles away for the following Tuesday. Dr. Castro spoke to not only me, but my sons, reassuring us that he could do what the surgeons I had previously seen thought was impossible. He and his staff were so knowledgeable and kind. They took the time to treat my like they genuinely cared. He even called me personally after getting back home to Mississippi to make sure that I was still doing well. Not only was his staff very professional, I also cannot say enough about all the staff at Sequoia Hospital. I am not one to make recommendations, but I feel like it would be worth your time, if needing a heart valve replacement, to reach out to Dr. Castro and his staff and Sequoia Hospital. I am very thankful for all they did for me.

Dr. Luis Castro is the best heart surgeon on this planet! Their is no other heart surgeon that compare's ! He literally saved my life after seeing 3 other local heart sugeons beforehand and was frustrated with them all for a variety of reasons! I finally researched even harder and that's when I found Dr. Luis Castro! He was the first and only heart surgeon that properly diagnosed me and informed me that I could have a stroke at any time due to my congenital heart valve defect and that it needed to be fixed and addressed immediately! I didn't hesitate, I flew to San Francisco and had the surgery and felt amazing after only 7 days! I now walk over 3 miles per day and breathe easier too! I love Dr. Luis Castro and can't thank him enough for everything that he did to save my life!!! I would give Dr. Luis Castro a million stars if I could!!!

Dr. Castro is the best cardiac surgeon I could have picked! I am in my 20s and needed repair of my mitral valve. My family and I were extremely nervous because I am a young female with a whole life ahead. As a pre-med I was very cautious about who does my surgery and how it would be done. I went to cedars sinai, stanford, etc., but Dr. Castro was the most genuine and most experienced of all. He was able to operate under my right breast with minimal scarring. The results are incredible! Thank you Dr. Castro, Dr. Herman, and the entire team for giving me a new heart and life! You are beyond inspiring!!

I can't adequately express how grateful I am to Dr. Castro and his entire team. When my rare congenital heart defect reached the point where aortic valve replacement was necessary, I consulted with several well-known local Los Angeles heart surgeons. Despite their credentials and experience, none of them gave me the confidence to trust them with my life. Then I found Dr. Castro. His online videos were impressive, but it was our phone consultations that really convinced me to fly from LA to San Francisco for the procedure. Dr. Castro's confident knowledge and expertise amazed me. He even discovered something in the tests that every other surgeon had completely missed - a dangerous aneurism. Just as reassuring as his brilliance and his calm demeanor, was the fact that he sincerely cared about me as a patient and as a person. He told me that he absolutely would not let my child grow up without her mother. (In fact, his fatality rate is zero.) He patiently answered all of my questions and made it clear I could call him personally with any concerns I had. His assistant Claudia was fantastic. She coordinated all the scheduling with me over the phone, followed up on all my questions, gave me directions to the hospital, and even set up my pre-operative stay at Sequoia House, the medical group's low-cost lodging right next to the hospital. She was on top of every detail. Nurses Dana and Kelly took care of all of my needs before and after the surgery with kindness and efficiency. They are angels. Dr. Castro and his outstanding surgery partner, Dr. Harmon, flawlessly performed the valve surgery and fixed the aneurism in less than half the time it takes most other surgeons. The post-op team was phenomenal, and the staff at Sequoia Hospital couldn't have been more professional or accommodating. Only two months after the surgery, I was walking three miles a day! A year later, I'm still going strong. I have more energy and stamina, and I feel better than I have in years. Literally putting my heart in Dr. Castro's hands is one of the best decisions I have ever made. He kept his promise to my precious daughter.
