Having bought a new home, I'm sure we've all been in that position. Time to start packing and coordinating this move, my wife and i decided to start researching who we would like to assist us. Having called many of the local movers, we quickly realized that for the most part we never received a call back. A believer that everything happens for a reason, we received a call back from a Mr Jonathon. Turns out this person is the owner of DG McDonald Moving & Storage. Asking all the right questions and wanting to do a site visit to inspect what exactly we were wanting to have boxed stored and moved.
I have never experienced a person so patient and clear cut as to what we could expect from his services. The day came and DG McDonald Personnel showed up 15 minutes early and well mannered and extremely clean and considerate of our home. Wrapping and boxing our belonging with the ut most care and concern.
I couldn't help but notice the harmony of the movers, it was like Santa's helpers knowing exactly what their roles all were.
The price point was very competitive and the storage cost out weighted what Dymon Storage was offering, we were invited to go the the main office to actually see where our furniture and belongings were being stored, now that's confidence I was extremely impressed. They have clean storage area, properly labelled professionally just as the service they provide.
Jonathon, we can't thank you enough for the weight you took off my families shoulders, and hats off to all your staff.
I think were even more excited to have you and your team back when you move our family into our new home.
Folks moving doesn't have to be a chore, Johnathon and the DG McDonald moving Team are proof of that.

I would completely recommend DG MacDonald for moving your belongings. They were professional and respectful. Rob gave us a quote and we came under the quote for weight. I received the difference back in the mail in about 2 weeks. I found them honest and kept themselves to their word.
Thank you Rob and your team for everything and will recommend you to anyone who needs to move across country or even a short distance. Thank you again for everything!!!!!!!!!!!

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. I have done 5 international moves and 2 domestic moves with different moving companies, and this was by far the worst.
1. The company is difficult to communicate with, particularly the operations team. Miscommunication which could have easily been avoided left my family homeless for 5 days as we did not have our furniture at the intended dates of move in.
2. The movers were hired to do a full service move but instead installed our furniture with the handles on backwards on multiple of our drawers and then left us at lunchtime to have us unpack everything ourselves. They told us to put the boxes on a covered terrace and that we could call the company to come back and pick them up.
3. When we called the company they refused to come pick up the boxes stating that we didn't follow instructions and left them outside when we left them exactly where the company told us to in a covered space.
4. The additional charges for another company to pickup the 215 boxes is more than $200.
5. The operations and client service contact Cody is unprofessional. Regardless of what the company states on their website it is clear that they are not directed towards client service. They have no empathy for the fact that moves are very stressful in general and they take no accountability for their shortcomings in terms of client service.
This company is a huge source of stress, not worth the costs and would not recommend to anyone.
Do not hire this company.

Seeing all the horror stories about various movers, I was nervous about my long-distance move and what could happen to my furniture (some fragile, some expensive, or both). Barry came over for a quote and was very friendly and knowledgeable and answered all my questions (and follow-up questions after receiving the quote). After getting quotes from other companies, I ended up going with DG MacDonald. Then it was the big questions: (1) Will they show up on time for pick up (high-rise building with elevator reservation), (2) how long will it take for the stuff to arrive at destination and, (3) will anything be damaged or missing.
(1) The three movers arrived a few minutes ahead of time and were very efficient, even picking up stuff I thought I’d have to move myself because I couldn’t find a suitable box.
(2) Pick up was Friday, they asked if Tuesday for delivery was fine. With a 10-day delivery window that started Monday (as per the quote), I thought that was pretty good (note: the 10-day delivery window seems to be standard in the business as all the quotes I got had the same window). That turned out to be perfect as we had snowstorms on Monday and Wednesday, but a nice sunny day on Tuesday. Two of the same movers delivered my stuff. They showed up a good hour before I expected them based on their time of departure, which was nice.
(3) Nothing was missing and damage was minimal (just a couple of scratches that I was able to take care of with a masking pen). Once again they were very professional and help put back together a few items that require two people.
That was a tough move for many reasons, but the experience with DG MacDonald was one of the things that was practically stress-free. I’ve since recommended them to a friend moving out of the same building.

I worked with DG MacDonald moving just a little less then a month ago and it went really well! we moved from Ottawa to Nova Scotia. After looking into many different companies I came across this moving company. (I highly recommend this company!!) Everyone was very informative and answered emails or calls quickly.
Rob gave me the quote and when we went through what was going on the truck he asked enough questions to get the most accurate quote. Cody was very nice and helpful, made it very easy after the quote to the truck payment.
Eric was our truck driver and the move went so easily. When the stuff got dropped off everything was in good condition nothing broken and in good time!
Good experience and highly recommend this company!!!
