I recently dined at Mayflower Seafood Restaurant in San Jose. The service was satisfactory, with staff being generally attentive and polite. However, the food was just okay. While the portions were generous, the flavors didn't stand out, and some dishes felt a bit underwhelming. Overall, it's an average spot for Cantonese cuisine if you're not too particular about the food quality.

Hau gau is filled with whole shrimp, not minced. Shu mai is large and not packed with low fatty pork. Just enough fat. Both was delicious. Pork belly while crispy it’s a bit hard to chew. Oyster in xo sauce (chef special) was deep fried ave lacked any oyster flavor. Hard pass on these. Mandatory 18% service was unsavory. This use to be a top shelf restaurant. Judging from empty Cisco parking lots and WFH and remote I fear this is a downward spiral.

I am beyond disgusted and with the way my table was treated during our dining experience. It was degrading. Went to this restaurant earlier today with my friends for a get together. At the restaurant, it started to come to me that they didn’t really have much respect for ALL customers, just those who seem to be more “grown” or the elderly— those who seem that would speak up more compared to younger people. It seems to me that they saw us as a group of young high school/college students that could tolerate waiting longer without complaining. We aren’t stupid. Just because we look younger doesn’t mean any form of laziness or dirty business practices could be slipped by. I honestly do not appreciate the amount of indirect disrespect I felt throughout the experience. I was appalled by the service attitude they had toward my table. We ordered around 10 items, but they all came at such a sluggish speed. Every 10-20 minutes one dish would come out. The thing is, we were there with a large group with over 10 people, so it was everyone taking a bite and waiting for another 10-20 for the other dish to come out. The table next to us came around 30 minutes after we ordered. Ten minutes after their table was full with everything they ordered. Meanwhile, I even had to ask the waiter about the other dishes that was yet to come after waiting for nearly an hour later. We were then informed that one of the dish was cancelled because they ran out. It angered me with the fact how they informed us after we asked, not the other way around. When they brought the food on the table, they even slightly dropped it onto the table and slid it across, which is something that is definitely considered absolutely disrespectful and unprofessional in Asian customs and culture. Even when I went to get the check, the item they cancelled was still included in the bill. Coincidence? I think not. I honestly do not appreciate the amount of indirect disrespect I felt throughout the experience. Customers should be served on a timely manner and based on the time they were seated, not based on what type of group they seem to fit in to. Don’t get me wrong, this is a “kid friendly” environment ONLY WHEN there are “adult”- adults present. But if it’s a group of younger people around ages 18-20, it’s a completely different story. T I felt disrespected and deeply insulted in all ways possible and they definitely did not deserve the 18% mandatory service fee that we were charged. The behavior and unprofessionalism of this restaurant is disgusting and definitely gave me a great first impression on this so called “one of the best” restaurants in the South Bay.

Went for lunch and was directed to a side dining room which was very cramped. I had gone there before and sat in the roomy main dining room. Furthermore, the menu seemed very limited and included a lot of rich dishes which was not really my taste and lacking in cold/side dishes to cut through that richness. Also had major stomach issues that night which I think was caused by this restaurant.
