I hired Motor City Movers to move my family from Michigan to Louisiana 3vweeks ago. What impressed us so much is the length the company went to protect our property as advertised. I carefully reviewed companies and saw all the videos and loading pictures. They did exactly as they had advised. This was very important to us after all the reviews we read about "nightmare" moves. Brian the owner and his guy James kept us informed every step from the booking process to delivery. Definitely recommend using this company. Very professional and his team was very pleasant to deal with. Thanks again guys.

Absolutely horrible experience!!!! THEY NEVER SHOWED UP!!!! We set up our time to move over a month before we were planning to move. The night before the move, they reached out regarding the large items that needed to be moved the following morning. The morning of the move, they called an hour before they were supposed to be at our house and said “the weather was too bad”. Which was not the case at all. Yes, there were flurries, but I went out and the roads were completely fine. We live in Michigan. If you don’t want to move in the cold and flurries, then close your business for the winter. We needed our stuff moved that day, and the owner was kind enough to send some guys over, but informed us they might be late. Hours and hours went by without hearing anything. The owner was not answering his phone, but was sending texts saying guys were on their way 3.5 hours after the time we had scheduled. Which was a blatant lie. No one showed up. Incredibly unprofessional and rude. I never imagined that this would be a problem. The amount of stress this company put on us, on what was supposed to be an exciting day, is ridiculous. Based on previous replies to negative reviews, I’m sure the owner will try and come up with something that did not happen. There was no contract sent to us, ever, which seems to be the excuse he uses most frequently. Terrible, terrible experience. The only recommendation I have regarding these guys is to find literally any other company to help you out.

I hired Motor City Movers to move some large furniture and a large (empty) fish tank from one house to another. I spoke to Brian over the phone for a quote. $200/hr for four movers. Estimated ~5 hours of time. On moving day, the crew showed up 30 minutes late. They were not aware that part of the job involved moving my large (empty) aquarium and said that would be a special $350 extra charge. Oh by the way, it had to be a cash payment too. It was super sketchy. They also stated that their hourly rate was $260 instead of $200, even though I had paperwork from Brian stating $200. I really think these guys were taking advantage of me. I had no other choice than to go forward and pay them the extra money - I had to be out of the house! This business has some pretty sketchy practices and takes advantage of their customers. I would not recommend at all. They wouldn't even give me a receipt for the "special cash charge". I'm sure they're trying to dodge paying taxes on it...

Jack and Sean did a fantastic job with moving some items from one of my offices to another. They went from a busy downtown with limited parking to a basement in the final destination. They were able to get me in the same week, within 2 days of initially contacting them. They were efficient and very nice. Will definitely use them for any future moves.

The worst experience I’ve ever had with movers, used them last year and then made the mistake of thinking it was a fluke and used them for our move today. Last year damage was done to the wood flooring on the house we were moving out so we had to cover costs to repair that all while one employee spent his day vomiting in my half bath. No show today with excuse after excuse, no follow up phone calls and now it’s 7:40 almost 3 hours with no reasoning or update on why they were a now show. The single most unprofessional company I have ever dealt with. Do not recommend as they’ll tell you every lie in the book to not show up or if they do, it’ll be late and you’ll have your house damaged and people getting sick in your bathroom that you’ll have to clean up yourself as to not leave for the new homeowners. Every platform I find your company on I will leave this review on. Dishonest, unprofessional and just disgusting to string a repeat customer along like this. I honestly have no idea how you’re still in business. And I know there’s a few company’s in the area with the same name; this is the correct company before you respond with “there’s no one booked by this name” like I’ve seen on other bad reviews you’ve been left with pretty much the same story of your company no call no show. Don’t go on vacation if you don’t have qualified employees you can rely on to run your business when you’re out of town. Enjoy mackinaw. I wish there were more platforms to warn people how subpar your service is.
