Ricky’s Hot Chicken is a solid alternative to Dave’s Nashville, and I actually like it better. They’ve got good mac & cheese, good fries, good chicken—really, they’ve got good everything. And the fact that it's Halal? That’s a big win for me. I prefer the Plano location over any other; it has way more seating and just feels more accommodating overall. But I have to say, the original location has some real drawbacks. The hours are ridiculous—you never know when they’ll be open. Sometimes they’re closed when they should be open, which makes it hard to plan when to eat there. Plus, the staff can be a bit moody, which doesn’t help the experience. Overall, it’s a decent chicken spot, but the weird hours and service issues bring it down a bit.

Holy S#$%!! This was amazing. I ate it a week ago and all I can think about is going back for it again. Chicken was perfectly cooked, flavoring was amazing, quantity was plentiful, service was fast, price was reasonable. Seating is a premium but most folks get it to go.

Ricky’s is well deserving of its rating, as my boyfriend and I loved our hot chicken. We got the Sando and Bird’s Nest. The Sando at mild heat was great for me and the medium heat of the Bird’s Nest was definitely a notch up. The shop is pretty small but the employees were so kind (and speedy!). I’ve been hungry for this sandwich ever since.

Really dank and small chicken shop in the corner of a shopping center in Richardson off of Beltline/75S. I got nuggets and fries to test out what they’re about a very baseline order. The menu is pretty simple, spicy chicken and fries. This is a nitpick I don’t like how small the store is. Service was wonderful. Price was fair. It’s fried chicken you know, who doesn’t like fried chicken. They have sauces to complement the meal. Much better than your run of mill chicken fast food (golden chick, canes, laynes, etc) I plan on coming back and eating chicken and waffles one day.
