I think the idea of Shannon west at it's core is really a way young people who have few options & less support than others. To focus on themselves & have a little safety net and a moment to catch up. I went here when is was on las Vegas BLVD by catholic charities. Yes some of the younger staff members maybe corrupted the identity of SW but over all 99% of staff members were professional some staff are in recovery & so that lends to some of the issues but when I think back I'm thankful & honestly I wish this was available to me earlier or even better marketed to high schools. Because I would have tried to be in independent living at SW much sooner.

Very, very unprofessional staff members. They will treat you like a scum. They are only there for the money and are easily influenced by the other negative staff members at this place. They intentionally make fun of you and mean mug you especially if your a white male. Avoid this place at all costs. Better off going to an adult shelter if anything. The room conditions They get you in are non livable. No ac units and the windows don't open when someone is sick you will get sick inevitably. If someone's feet stank and they don't shower. The whole room has to deal with it. And it's full of ghetto kids that basically run the place and the trash staff stopped to they're level and smoke weed and buy weed off the kids as well. THERE ARE NO REGULATIONS TO THE ROOMS. If there's a rude guy in there that's Loud and noisy til 3am. You must deal with it. The staff does nothing to help whatsoever. Come see this place for yourself!

Ive been staying there for a few months and its pretty great. Friendly staff, lots of programs for finding work or schooling, decent food quality for a shelter. The only issue i have is some of the people but i cant blame the shelter itself for that. Really great place for someone whos genuinely trying to get back on their feet

There's a reason the only good reviews are from people who didn't actually stay here... The staff are cruel, verbally abusive, and dehumanize residents. They are ableist (you have to request your own prescription medication, which is horrible when it's for things like epipens) and constantly accuse disabled residents of faking their illnesses. You're treated like a criminal. You have an early curfew even if you're an adult. You could get kicked out just for being too close to another resident because they go nuclear on no PDA, even platonic. They're also immensely queerphobic. This place is a last resort, and if you get here PLEASE don't plan to stay long. This place and all of its staff seriously need to be investigated for human rights violations...allegedly.

I was there twice for combine year and a half most miserable time of my life more like Shannon west detention center they work with the feds 6 pm curfew definition of police
