The movers themselves are great, but the business practices were terrible. Pretty much everything got here intact, but the ~$1400 estimate for our storage unit and apartment stuff turned into a ~$5000 move, which they only told us after the truck was almost fully loaded. And despite taking credit for the deposit, they didn't take it for the move! So I had to go running for the 50% cash payment at pickup when they finished the pickup. You'd think an estimate would avoid these sorts of surprises but it was more like deceptive marketing. Glad it's over

They quoted my sister one price and on moving day had her sign the contract with double the amount. Refused to put things back. After coming up with additional $1700 they left boxes outside on the curb. She's 70 year old. The took total advantage of her. Don't use them and if you do. Confirm the amount before signing

If I could give this company 0 stars I would. First I contacted this company and was told my move could be accomplished in 5 hours with 4 guys. I was given the wrong price (roughly half), did some quick math in my head and said even if it takes an 8-10 hour day this is still a great deal. Not 10 minutes later after providing a deposit on the phone, I was called back and told the actual rate is double what I was originally quoted. I then read these nightmare story Google reviews, called back and cancelled my order. About 10 minutes after that I was called by a representative from "Call My Mover". I inquired about how they got my number and was told I must have filled out one of those online quotes for moving companies to just call me- I did not. I work in tech so I'm a tad smarter than that. I specifically asked if they had any association to Tri-State Area Movers and was told no. I was provided with a different rate which seemed more logical for the size move and asked to have a quote sent to me. At the bottom of the quote, there was a link to Tri-State Area Movers. I called back and told them to cancel. Now I am trying to get my two $100 deposits back from these companies. I called Tri-State Movers to request a refund and asked what their relationship to Call My Mover was- the rep admitted it was their company. This company is a bunch of scam artists. Run for the hills. In the end, I worked with Dunbar Moving out of Stony Brook Long Island. I was charged a flat rate and told there were no other fees. The movers took excellent care of our items start to finish and were extremely professional and courteous as well. At the end I was only charged that flat rate.

This company was not truthful about the low cost ($1150.00)telling us theres no hidden fees. They excluded additinal fees which amounted to twice the price they gave us ($2472.25) they gave me a pick up date with a 12-4pm pick up time. They didnt show up. They called me at night to tell me theyll be arriving the following day at 12pm but I received a called at 8am saying they were outside and I was out of town and had to rush back for the pick up. They loaded the truck and THEN hit me with the actually price they were charging me. They also fixed the total sq footage to a false amount claiming the boxes I used weren’t "medium sized" but when they gave us the quote on the phone they were fully aware we were including medium sized home depot boxes. The excuse( after the truck was laoded) was that medium sized homedepot boxes are larger than what they consider medium in their computer . It wasnt until the boxes were on the truck that they said medium boxes are closer to large in their system. They then asked me what date I needed them delivered, however they missed the delivery date by over a week claiming they had 14 days from pick up to deliver. Most of the boxes arrived damaged some were completely destroyed. 2 boxes they had repacked and my boxes were gone all together. One box didnt arrive and one box wasnt mine at all. We took photos of the boxes they delivered and measured to about half the cubic ft they charged me. They’ll say anything to you on the phone and hide behind fine print of contracts which doesn’t protect THE CUSTOMER. They said the price quoted was the price they would charge, it even says on their website that traveling expenses are included. But they charged me for gas, even added more for the inflated price they charged me. The man in the picture who was one of the delivery guys, did a good job for the condition the boxes were in. They were not responsible for the condition of the boxes or the amount charged. Someone moved my things from the truck that picked up my things to another truck. Just look at the pictures.

I had one of the worst experiences with this company, which seems to be a common issue among many of their customers. Honestly, I wouldn’t waste my time going into all the details about their terrible service and behavior, but I do want to warn others. Be cautious if you decide to use this company. Do **not** give your credit card information to the operator upfront, and make sure you get everything in writing, with all the details clearly outlined.
