I had a reservation from 1:30 to 4:30 I showed up about 10 minutes after 2:00. I stood there for about 15 minutes and an empty building with no one around before anyone even walked inside. Then they informed me that they went ahead and rented out the car hauler I had reserved. The only thing they still had in stock was car dollies. Since I was towing a rear wheel drive car that was really unsafe but they suggested I just go ahead and use that. When I set up an online reservation and give my credit card number up front I think it is very unprofessional for them to go ahead and rent out what I have reserved because I was not there on the exact minute I said I would be. I got the job done today but I believe it was less than safe. They also didn't really apologize or offer me a discount or anything. They just said it was because I wasn't on time. If that is the policy that seems like a bad policy that should be changed. I might as well not make a reservation at all.

I agreed to transport a trailer to my location in a different state. The trailer was improperly hitched and came off of the hitch ball, was hanging on by the chains, and the trailer was swinging out into incoming traffic in the other lane. This is while my sister was following me in my personal vehicle and there was a coal truck behind her. I had to get pulled over, access if there was any damage, pick the trailer up by myself with a bad back and walk it forward and reattach it, secure it, etc. I called the location but was sent to a call center maybe. The lady listened and was apologizing and saying she was contacting the location by message because they weren't answering the phone. I have yet to hear back from anyone. I'm thinking a different moving truck company in the future is the plan moving forward.

When I arrived to get my rental, went inside and there was no one at the customer service desk. I went back outside and called the 800 number. Just as they had answered, 2 workers emerged and went inside. So I walked back in and was able to get taken care of. 2 hours later, I’m back to return. The 2 were at the desk this time, eating and advised me to “put the trailer back where I got it and I’m good to go”. Never made eye contact. So since one of them had hooked up the trailer when I picked it up, I had no idea how to unhook it. Someone finally came out and unhooked it and I was on my way. Horrible customer service. They weren’t busy in the least. No other customers were there both times. Sorry to interrupt your lunch for you to do your job. Next time I need U-Haul, I’ll go somewhere else.

I have been using U-haul exclusively for my entire life and love the service and services I receive every time, however for the first time I was disappointed. The facility I rented from and the equipment I rented were top notch as always, but the staff, however friendly in the store left me dissatisfied. The day in question had around 3 inches of snow on the ground and temperatures were in the teens, upon paying for and receiving keys to my rental, the staff had finished. I was just handed keys and told have a nice day, I was not told where my rental was located I had to clear 3 inches of snow from the windshield myself and had to re-enter the facility and physically ask the staff to assist me in backing my rental out of the small space it was located in. I do love U-haul and I will continue to use and recommend their services to others, however I am severely disappointed in the customer service I received and will most likely use another U-haul retailer in the future.
