Never ever do business with these companies, Purple Heart or Valiant Movers. I had several issues, so this will be long, but that is the gist of what the point is. First, Purple Heart is not a moving company. They are what’s called a “broker.” They are simply a third party that goes between you and the movers. They have no real power over the moving company and they have no idea about pricing. They would ask us what our inventory was for our move and continually reassured us that we were under square footage. This turned out not to be the case and we had to pay around $800 more than we were quoted. If we had gone directly through the moving company, the movers, Valiant Movers, told us that we would have gotten almost double the amount of space in the truck for what we were paying. The movers said they couldn’t quote us a price based on the items in our house, saying they would tell us the price once the items were loaded. They said the price quote was just based on an eyeball estimate once in the truck. There was no actual measurements. This meant that my items would be loaded and my items basically hostage for me to pay whatever they requested. Our items were picked up November 29. Our movers took down our expected date of arrival and noted that we were arriving the very next day. They said that they would try to get it out faster, and they expected 3-7 days. Purple Heart said that cross country moves take up to 10 days. After 10 days we called Purple Heart and they advised us that they actually meant business days. After the 10 business days we called again. They said that 10 business days was more of a guideline but that there are no guarantees. I called and left several messages over several days for Valiant Movers, and I never received a call back. The next day I called Purple Heart again and they advised me that the movers had placed our items in storage back in California and couldn’t find a driver to move the things to Idaho for us but that they were still working on it. I understand that maybe my final destination was not a popular one and that Valiant would want a full truck to make it worth their while. However, I don’t really think it’s my problem after so long and that they probably should have just gotten my move done after the 10 business days. Later, I was emailing with Purple Heart about the time issue. They said that they were expecting the truck to be loaded soon and to expect our items in 5-7 days. I was quoted December 18-20 for arrival. Not wanting to trust any timelines, I called to double check. The person in the phone said that would actually be business dates. 5-7 business days. That date, for those following along, would have been Christmas Day. I told the attendant on the phone there is no way we would be receiving our items on Christmas Day and she agreed that was just the timeline and that it would likely be delivered at a later date. After telling her we would be out of the state until January 6, she agreed that the items needed to be delivered the Saturday before we left. That is today. Valiant called in the morning and set a 4-5pm time window. At 5:15 we called them to ask if they were still coming and they said 10 minutes. They called us at 5:35 to tell they were stopping for dinner. They arrived at 6:25 and told us we would need to pay an additional $75 because of stairs, despite the fact that stairs were meant to be included in our contract. Valiant Movers said they would have to mark it as a non-delivery and put it in storage which is my nightmare. We decided to pay for it now and complain to both companies involved. I called Purple Heart immediately and they told me they only 10 stairs total were covered, not at each location. When I asked to speak to someone who could escalate a complaint for me, she said everyone would be out of the office until Jan 8. I will update when I hear from either company.

Absolutely awful. They were helpful at pick up but just terrible at drop off. They asked us if we could accommodate an earlier drop off. We agreed and made the necessary accommodations and then 10 days after they told us they would drop off they showed up!!! When they finally arrived they claimed they couldn't fit the truck through-NOT true. Then over the next two days they drove around renting a truck and "not knowing where to tranfer the items." They lost our address 3 times, and my husband had to go and find them twice after being at our house. They demanded more money, were rude, and unhelpful. I called customer service twice and my husband three times. They wouldn't give me the president of the company's phone number or e-mail address. What a terrible company.

Save yourself.....do not hire this company. The day of our move, five people showed up at our home. The lead guy was less than pleasant. He immediately came in to our home and informed us he was going to charge us more money. We explained to him that we were finishing packing the few items we were using from the day before and that day and we had plenty of boxes sitting on the floor. He ignored these comments and proceeded to tell us repeatedly how this was going to be more. After talking with the home office, our moving quote went up over $3000. Considering we were traveling by plane the next day to our new home, we very well couldn't say no. We reluctantly agreed to pay the full amount and contracted with the company for the full move. The lead guy was very rude to me. There were comments made numerous times throughout the day to me (while I was nursing my child) or when trying to get information out of him. It was clear to me that he had a problem with women. Our bed was folded in half and shrunk wrapped. When I asked him about this by asking him if this was the best way to pack this, I was told "Well, we could just leave it here". I don't know how he is in the service industry with an attitude like that. Our door was left open all day. It was below 30 outside and even while they were in the truck or not in the house, the door was left open. Our furnace was on all day long. This started a whole comedy of errors were we were told different things from different people, our goods were split in a shipment (and the company wasn't going to tell us this), things were damaged, customer service was non-existent and even to the point that our goods were being held until we sign a paper that wasn't legal. We finally got 95% of our goods after the second try. To end this whole nightmare, we did ask for compensation from the company along with reimbursement for our damages. The company did agree. Again, they wanted us to sign something stating we wouldn't "tarnish" their name. We refused and amended that document. After asking three (3) times about the goods that were not ours and some one else's, we finally received a communication asking to let them know what those goods were. As of this date, we still haven't heard what they are planning to do with them. In my opinion, this is a joke of a company. There is no customer service. Every person there talked over my husband or I, interrupted us, condescended us and essentially tried to take advantage of us. They mentioned that they were concerned we were going to do a chargeback on our credit card. I'm not an idiot. I want my stuff first. This company had ample time to figure out how to get all our goods to us. We were told repeatedly that the reason it was a split shipment was because our contract changed. But our goods sat in a warehouse for two weeks together because we received items that were loaded the first day and items that were loaded the second day together! They come up with documents and want you to sign them. They throw in clauses asking for consumers to give up their rights. It felt like they were trying to bully us through the entire ordeal yet there were holding our goods. Here's a crazy thought. Rather than asking consumers not to "tarnish" your business name, be a good business!! Do right by your customers.

Zero stars. This was the absolute worst moving company I have worked with and have ever heard of. The complaints are the same as the other reviews I have read. The loading crew was pleasant enough, but they did do the bait and switch and asked for more money once most of our belongings were loaded. A lot more. They did not deliver when they said they would. The driver showed up alone with no one to help him unload. He spoke little English so used a lot of pantomiming. I think he was Russian. He dropped most of the boxes as he unloaded the truck alone for 3-4 hrs until help arrived. 30-40% of our belongings were broken and had to be thrown away. And many items lost altogether. He was going to leave without delivering our beds and tried to tell us that he didn't have them. We finally got up into the truck ourselves and found them mixed in with another load. That is probably what happened to the other stuff that was lost, but who knows? The customer service representative was beyond rude and actually yelled and threatened me over the phone. Then sent an email to say we should all calm down. DO NOT, under any circumstances use this company. We would have been better off renting a small trailer to haul just our personal items and sold or donated everything else, then bought new in our new location. It would have been cheaper. If you value your belongings, do not let this company into your home.

They get one star because I have to and at least my stuff is finally here. When we first called them they gave us a quote for $2100 (500 cubic feet) to move a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom house from Washington to Colorado. They said that price could change once they got there but that's about the size of a 3 bed 2 bath house. They were supposed to come between 7-11am the day of the move. Called at 11 and said they wouldn't be there until 12:30. After arriving late, and one of the movers reeking of marijuana, they took a look around and said it looked like it should be about 500 cubic feet of stuff. Waited until packing more than half of my items to tell me it was going to be way more and just my couches would be about $1200 more to move. I ended up giving my couches away on Craigslist that night and buying a new one. It still ended up being a grand total of $3600 and that was after I told them I wasn't paying any more. When they were finished, I was signing the paperwork. There is a clause that says they have 30 days to bring your stuff after the date you give them to move (we had to put our stuff in storage until we closed on our house). The foreman told me that was just so I couldn't call the night before I wanted my stuff and demand it come the next day, but if I gave 2 weeks notice they would have no problem getting my stuff on the day I wanted. 2 1/2 weeks before we closed I got a final date so I called to give it to them. I then called the day before to see where my stuff was and it was still in California with no plans to have it come anytime soon. They just kept telling me I signed the contract and that's what it says. I understood the contract, but my frustration was their foreman told me to disregard it because I gave 2 weeks notice. After my husband and I were on the phone with them for an hour they said it would come on the first truck out. We got a call later that week saying they were coming the next day. We didn't even have 24 hours notice, and it was after business hours so my husband couldn't ask his work if he could leave early. They said they would come between 12-2 so I waited in an empty house with a 2 year old and a 10 month old. They called and said they would be late again. This time they didn't show up until 5:30. When they fibalky arrived, I told them they could put the boxes in a room that didn't have furniture in it yet, and they started putting everything in there (bed frames, tv's, rocking chair, etc.). Then they lost the screws to my son's bed, but told my husband if he went and got new screws they would set it up (the company is supposed to set up beds). While my husband was at home depot getting screws they had me look at the paperwork to make sure they brought everything in. I signed because I knew they had told my husband they would still set up the beds so I didn't think it was an issue. While he was gone they left. I have never been treated like this by a company before. They get you in with a good price and then you're stuck because they have your money and your things. If you're wanting to hire them because of their good prices, I recommend looking elsewhere. If you do hire them, be careful what and when you sign paperwork.
