The Year is nearly 2025. The brand new bus stops with WiFi signs posted all over it. The bus does not take debit/credit cards and does not give change. This is a very typical government run operation 👎🏻

They don’t really care about implementing faster route to and from Gilroy! Those areas are far neglected, and even after repeatedly requesting them to implement faster route to and from Gilroy, serving daily, specifically one bus stop in Gilroy, one in Morgan Hill, and maybe one in south San Jose, all close to the freeway, connecting directly to Diridon Station or Tamien Station for Caltrain, depending where is the farthest south cutoff for Caltrain service off the peak hours, and a separate route serving same few stops, connecting directly to North San Jose/Berryessa BART Station, they insist on just returning other prepandemic routes to 100%, before implementing new routes. Thing is they should also listen to people’s concerns! People don’t pay taxes to give those employees handouts! It is a salary to get the job done! Caltrain insists on only serving Gilroy and Morgan Hill on peak/traffic commute hours on weekdays only, and the VTA insists on giving slow service to those cities! Driving from Morgan Hill to Diridon Station takes 25 minutes, while the so called “Rapid 568” takes 50 minutes or more to get you from Morgan Hill to Diridon Station! Pssh, more like “Less slow/lengthy 568”! They literally don’t go into the freeway! It shouldn’t hurt to add a route that serves from Gilroy to Diridon Station with those few bus stops near the freeway for fast service! Oh, and if you want to take a Lyft or Uber from Morgan Hill to Diridon Station, although you can, it will break your bank! It often is over $30 or even over $40 for a one way service, and on top of that, they want you to tip the driver! It is not realistic to take a Lyft or Uber to San Jose or even to Tamien Station from Morgan Hill, for work, because it will eat the great majority of your paycheck! And if it is like that from Morgan Hill to Diridon Station, Berryessa BART, or Downtown San Jose, I can imagine it is only worse for those who live in Gilroy that don’t have a car! A guy who used to work for VTA, whom I told about this whole horrid type service for residents living in Morgan Hill and Gilroy, said that the route management employees don’t really do anything and go to work just for their paycheck! That is an embarrassment! If they were all to move to Morgan Hill or Gilroy and did not have their own cars and just took the public transportation to work, take a look at how fast the services in southern side of the county will change! Reality is they don’t serve the people! I wish they did, but wishing won’t create change. People actively requesting for it will create change! There is supposedly an agenda to get people off their cars and to take the public transportation, but that will never happen for as long as it would mean sacrificing a whole another hour on their commute to work or for anything in San Jose or farther north. It is just not gonna happen! It is only causing the opposite to happen, pushing people off from the public transportation and switching to cars, because people look for what is most convenient. It is just a fact of life! When I get my own car, I will in no way miss the public transportation! I will feel such extreme relief when I get my own car after finishing paying my other debts I currently have to pay! And it will continue to provoke more active repeat passengers/customers to switch to cars, and eventually, almost nobody will be taking public transportation, and there will be no more revenue! You reap what you sow!

Do your DEI hires know what yielding means? You're supposed to yield to moving traffic and not pull out while people are passing your buses and use them as weapons to force people to brake.

Pros: Clipper integration made getting around in terms of fares very easy. Live updates on Google Maps for route planning. Light rail is easy to navigate. Cons: Passenger safety seems to be a secondary concern of bus drivers given the violent driving style I experienced on board a city bus from the Rose Garden to Berryessa BART station. HVAC systems are not showing signs of regular cleaning, with visible particulates and dirt near air vents that should at least be wiped down. Both buses were very late, the first being over 30 minutes behind.
